You may have seen a lot of wrestling matches and found that why sometimes referee called for bell when a wrestler use a chair to hit his opponent and sometimes not! This is because there are a lot of different types of matches around, different type carries different rules. So let's see what are the most common matches that we do see:
1)Normal match: In order to win this match, wrestler must pin or make his opponent to submit through submission move or his opponent get counted out (stay away from the ring for 10 seconds) or by disqualification (hit by foreign object by his opponent eg chair).
2)Battle Royal: Few wrestlers in the ring at once. Competitors throw each other over the top rope and the last one left in the ring is the winner. Only both feet touched the floor consider a wrestler is out.
3) Buried Alive Match: Basically no rules where everything can be used for the match. The winner will need to throw the opponent into the hole and bury it with sand until the hole is fully covered.
4) Fatal Four Way: Almost same rules as normal match just that it doesn't count wrestler out. 4 wrestlers compete each other in the ring and the first one who get pin or submission will be the winner.
5) Triple Treat Match: Same as Fatal Four Way but with 3 wrestlers only.
6) First Blood Match: Another no-rules kind of match, you can fight with anything at any place. To win the match, you got to make your opponent bleeding first.
7) Hell In The Cell: Wrestle inside a fifteen foot high roofed steel cage, it is a no disqualified match. You got to pin or make your opponent tapped out to win the match.
8) Iron Man Match: No, it is not ironing clothes competition. 2 wrestlers will compete in a normal match rules for 60 minutes. The one with the most pinfall count made will be the winner. If the pinfall count still the same after 60 minutes, extra time is activated and whoever get the faster pinfall will be declared as winner.
9) Ladder Match: With championship belt hanged about 12 feet above the ring, 2 wrestlers or tag teams compete with everything is on. The match continue until any participant climb up the ladder and take down the belt.
10) Money in the Bank match has the same logic as ladder match just that a suitcase will be hanged instead of championship belt. The winner has right to challenge any World Heavyweight Champion in 365 days.
11) Lumberjack Match: Ring surrounded by wrestlers and their job is to attacked the participant that falled out of ring and throw him back. A normal match rules will applied.
12) Steel Cage Match: A fifteen foot high cage is constructed around the ring, to win the match you got to either pin your opponent OR make your opponent tapped out OR get out of the ring and both feet touched the floor.
13) Survivor Series Match: Two teams of either four or five wrestle together. Each time someone loses, he or she is eliminated from the match. It continues until one side has zero members active.
14) Falls Count Anywhere match: A Falls Count Anywhere match is a match where pinfalls or submission can take place in any location, negating the standard rule that they must take place inside the ring and between the ropes.
15) Handicap match: A Handicap match is any match where one wrestler or team of wrestlers face off against a team of wrestlers with numerical superiority such as two against one, or three against two. In some two-on-one handicap matches the team with superior numbers act under tag team rules, with one person in the ring at a time.
16) Bra and Panties match: A Bra and Panties match is so named because it takes place between two female competitors and the winner is the first one to strip her opponent to nothing but her bra and panties. My favourites!!
17) Last Man Standing match: The Last Man Standing match is a hardcore-style match where the only way to win is by knockout. That is, a wrestler will lose the match if they are unable to answer a ten-count after being downed.
18) Tables, Ladders, and Chairs (TLC) match: A tables, ladders and chairs match, is an extension of a Ladder match with chairs and tables also being present as legal weapons.
19) Elimination Chamber match: The Elimination Chamber is a large, circular steel cage which surrounds the ring entirely, including creating a grated floor area on the apron. Inside the cage, at each turnbuckle, is a clear "pod" where four of the six competitors in the match must wait to be released to join the two who start at the opening bell. As the name implies, wrestlers are eliminated one-by-one until only one remains.
Wow..... There are still lot of matches that I didn't share it out here. If I do, I will probably need another 5 days to write it down here :)
Stay safe. Please don't try this at home!
